Margaret Barrett cannot remember a time when she did not draw and paint horses. Born overlooking the Derby course at Epsom she spent her early years watching racehorses exercising.
Margaret's work has sold worldwide and has been exhibited in the United States, Europe, Tokyo and Dubai. She is one of fifty artists invited to take part in an exhibition organised by the International League for the Protection of Horses - opened by HRH the Princes Royal - Margaret's painting was chosen to illustrate the I.L.P.H.'s Christmas card.
Margaret's clients include Aynsley China, Royal Doulton, Spillers, Gallifords plc and many owners and breeders. Felix Rosenstiel and Sally Mitchell Fine Arts have published limited editions of her paintings. Her work has also appeared as book illustrations and on many greetings cards.
She is an full member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and has won the annual prize for Best Oil Painting in an Exhibition held at Christie's. She also exhibits with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Society of Women Artists and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Her equestrian paintings show a lifetime's love and understanding of horses and countryside, but her speciality is racing scenes. She responds to the power and grace of these magnificent animals by capturing a sense of movement that can almost be heard!
